Congratulations to the students who made a 1 at Solo and Ensemble this past Saturday.  They will be competing at State Solo and Ensemble in May.  They are Cameron Losoya, Victoria Felton, Benito Torres, Christina Humphries, Kat Perez, Amber Dewalt, Sylina Caballero, and Felicia Johnson.  The Show Choir also made a 1 on their ensemble.

PAL applications due date has been extended!  Applications are due this Friday, Feb. 12th.  You must make application and return by Fri. in order to be accepted into PALS class your Senior year.  Pick up and return applications from Mrs. Jernigan in Student Services or Mrs. Sullivan in Room A215.

The Spanish Club will be selling Valentine Candy Grams for $1.00 during both A&B lunches on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11 and 12.  The buyer will deliver his/her own candygram because of Six Weeks Exams schedule.  Buy a sweet for your sweetie on Thursday and Friday!

Spanish Club Members:  Remember that there is a soccer concession today at 5:00 and 7:00.  Help is needed!  Also, come by Room A213 tomorrow, Wed., to pick up candy to prepare for the candygrams.  And, do not forget the Valentine cards for the Vets.  Wednesday deadline!  Gracias.

There will be a band booster meeting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 9th, at the high school band hall.

Our High School Swim Team went to the district swim meet this past Saturday at Lamar C.I.S.D. swim center. Our girls team won 3rd place and our Boys team was 6th in the meet. The two teams combined came away with a 3rd place. Those participating were Meagan Attaway, Josh Byrd, Anthony DeLeon, Paige Green, Kara Griffith, Zach Hulbert, Regan Law, & Haley Skinner.
Our girls 200 Free Relay won 1st place & our 400 Free Relay was 2nd place.
Coaches Robin Haring & Terri Ottinger were chosen as Girl & Boy District Coaches of the Year.
We were very impressed with all of our swimmers. They all did an outstanding job. We will be taking 7 swimmers in individual events & two girls relays to the regional
swim meet this weekend which is being held at U of H in Houston.
If you see any of these swimmers, tell them congrats. They did an awesome job!

The last day to register for the March 13th SAT is Wednesday, Feb. 10th.  This is the last time this school year that the SAT will be given at BCHS.

There will be a Student Council meeting Wednesday, Feb. 10th, at 2:45 in A118.

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team for their 3-0 win over Columbia.  Goals were scored by Aaron Sanford, Steven Cortez and Rembran Garcia.  Rey Lopez assisted all three goals.  Goalkeeper Mario Landeros had three saves and preserved the shut out with defensive help from Steven Painter, Nick McConaha, Gerardo Mendoza and Eric Cortez.

Congratulations to the Boys soccer team for their 4-1 win over Columbia.  Goals were scored by Enrique Lopez, Elmer Ramirez, and 2 by Sean Cortez.

Have you always been interested in a health care career?  Do you like helping people? Then Health Science is the program for you!  Pick up an application for Health Science from Mrs. Savage (A229) or from Mrs. Jernigan in Student Services.  You must apply for the program and be accepted.  Applications are due by March 5th, no exceptions.

Attention NHS Officers:  There is a meeting in Mrs. Parker's room on Tuesday, Feb. 9th, after school.

Seniors: If you have not started applying for scholarships, now is the time to do so. A complete list of scholarships is available on the high school website. Applications can be downloaded from the website or picked up in Student Services.

Senior FFA members have been called to come by Becca Sitz office to pick up their scholarship application. If for some reason you are a Senior that is a member of FFA and you were not called to her office, please contact her to pick one up. They are due back to her by April 6th at the end of the school day.

The Art League of Bay City is having our Semi-Annual Judged Show, the 30th of March 2010 with registration the 26th & 27th of March. Registration will be from 1pm to 6:30pm the 26th and from 1pm to 4pm on the 27th at the Matagorda County Museum located in Bay City. Reception will be held the 30th of March in the Garden Room of the museum at 4pm to 6:30pm. We have 4 levels of student divisions, and 6 categories of artwork, K-2nd; 3-4th-5th; 6th, 7th, 8th; 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th. The show is also open to adults. For registration forms, call or e-mail one of us and we will deliver or mail the forms. Thank you, Co-Chairpersons-Barbara Westbrook & E. Marguerite Bundick.
